Frank Stanley

Bio:

"I've never been interested in landscapes or figures. I really can't draw a train or a bird that's supposed to look like a bird. I make art out of an uncontrollable desire to create cool stuff."

Frank is an American-made mixed media artist who paints, molds, sculpts and welds his way across a wide range of mediums. He currently makes his home in Fort Collins, Colorado.

He describes himself as a self-taught artist with a penchant for twisting chrome, welding steel, and spreading automotive paint. Frank attributes his work in these mediums to his need for "creative purging" and the limitation to the materials he has on hand. In other words, he adapts his techniques to the stuff one might find in a well-stocked garage.

Artist Statement:

I am an artists for one basic reason ...to make cool stuff! I'm not trying to show the "decline of western civilization" or the "struggle of the youth in America," if such a thing exists. I simply want to make amazing art. My mission is to make stuff people want to look at and have as part of their daily life. I try to make unexpected art out of whatever I can find or dream up including enamels, acrylics, spray-paints, wood, metal, concrete, toys and more. I create for the simple fact of enjoyment, for the collector, for the viewer and myself

Currently, Frank can be found in his garage at Playground Studios surrounded by swordfish, bowling pins, and Family Guy action figures...(some or all of these may be part of the show)!
