to explore the evolving definition of sculpture

Martin Mayer

Bio:

Martin comes to Northern Colorado via the New York City art scene, where he has worked as a fabricator for many well known artists.

Installation at FCMoCA:

"The best part of being alive is to play band learn. Art objects are made to encourage play. Play equals learning, learning equals play," Martin states. His work, though humorous, has a decidedly critical edge. Through its seeming playfulness, it challenges habitual ways of seeing and institutional behavior. He believes art is a creative impulse, and the best art is made from this place, with a desire to share.
